MOVEMBER CAMPAIGNS

FACIAL RECOGNITION SCREENS

CONCEPT   |   GRAPHIC DESIGN   |   MOTION GRAPHICS

THE BRIEF

As part of the 2018 Movember Campaign, we were given a last minute opportunity (one day only) to produce some digital screens in the UK, using facial recognition technology.

Each animiation was required to last 12 seconds only, with a buffer animation of 3 seconds – a generic sequence that happens while the facial recognition software is detecting a passer-by’s face.

There were 3 variables to work to, based on the facial recognition software’s capabilities:

  • A clean face, with no facial hair
  • A bearded face
  • A face with a moustache.

3 simple scenario’s were then needed to be pieced together by myself and my copywriter, that I could animate swiftly (with a total length of 9 seconds, for each version, after deciding on the generic buffer message).

THE SOLUTION

Inspired by the popular MTV UK animated comedy series Weebl and Bob, the Movember Mo was brought to life, with a cheeky cartoonesque personality, voicing it’s opinion at unsuspecting passers-by.
